Organic Food - Reasons to eat Organic
Research has shown that organic food is healthier and better for you. A ten year study comparing organic tomatoes with standard produce found almost double the level of flavonoids - a type of antioxidant which has been showed to reduce high blood pressure, lowering the risk of heart disease.
You can safely eat the skins of organic produce such as carrots, apples and potatoes, which are often the most nutritious part.
Organic food is always better for our children, as they are more affected by pesticides in food due to their smaller size. Children who eat primarily organic foods have much less exposure to pesticides which can interfere with the transmission of nerve signals to the brain and nervous system, making them potent neurotoxins.
Organic farming is better for the planet as it prevents soil erosion and protects the quality of the soil.
Organic food is also better for the farmers and workers and those involved in food production. A US National Cancer Institute study found that farm workers exposed to herbicides and pesticides have a higher risk of developing cancer than those who have not been exposed.
